DID YOU KNOW?

Studies have shown:

The most successful way to improve the reading achievement of low-income children is to increase their access to print.

61%

of low-income homes have no books in their homes for their children.

Children's book distribution and ownership programs have positive behavioral, educational, and psychological outcomes.

10%

of children's books published in 2018 depicted African/African-American characters.

It is important for children to have access to books that serve as mirrors - reflecting their own culture - and books that serve as windows - allowing views into someone else's experiences.
